History of Congregations of Winchester District June 12, 2016

I. INTRODUCTION

This volume has been rearranged so that it now contains the histories of all the churches now in
Harrisburg District. Photos of churches, in most cases, come from Harrisonburg District Office, for
which Richard and Debbie Creech provided minor editing and embedded names as well as framing;
these photos now hang on the walls of Harrisonburg District Office, arranged by county and charge
conference.

This volume was first begun as a volume of the History of United Brethren (U.B.) and
Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) churches in Virginia Conference, completed in 2009 and available
electronically on request by the editor, Dr. Robert P. “Bob” McDonald-Walker, mcdwalk@gmail.com.

Readers are strongly encouraged to provide new materials for these evolving histories.
Candidates might include pamphlets prepared for anniversaries, homecoming and other celebrations;
picture and early charge directories; scrapbooks with newspaper clippings; obituaries of members and
close friends of the church; and photo albums. In each case materials are electronically scanned as PDF
documents and returned within a few days if possible. Since the editor lives west of Winchester, it will
not be possible to visit all the active churches in Harrisonburg District, as has been done for Winchester
District.

The goal is to complete this work by June 2018 in time to celebrated the 50th Anniversary of
United Methodism.
